To Our Valued Customers and Industry Professionals:
Subject: Dayton Superior Product Pricing
We are certain that you are now aware of the continuing steel price escalation that is occurring
globally. As we mentioned on April 9, Dayton Superior's steel costs for May delivery are now
up 60% from December 2007. June receipts will be up over 70%. It now appears that July
deliveries will rise an additional 10% to 15%.
Our pricing on all metal products was raised 15%, effective May 1, 2008. The provisional June 1
increase is now confirmed at an additional 15%. Please expect another 10% to 15% increase
on July 1. We will confirm the exact percentage of the July 1 increase during the last week of May.
At this time, we are not increasing our non metal and chemical products pricing. As previously mentioned, we will be communicating with you monthly, at the beginning of each
month, on our pricing. We will continue this practice until the current environment becomes
more predictable. Also we would like to remind you that, due to the continued steel price
volatility, our quotation protection period is down to 10 days.
We will accept orders in May for May/June delivery. We will accept orders in June for June/July
delivery. We will not accept fixed price orders with extended delivery terms, nor will we work
our factories overtime to fulfill stock orders.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this unprecedented period. We hope
that conditions return to something more normal during the second half of this year.
Thank you for your business and we will communicate with you again on or about May 30, 2008.
Sincerely,
Eric R. Zimmerman
President and Chief Executive Officer
